Signed Yan England and notably produced by Arte, Rematch is one of those series capable of stirring up some memories, or when the past echoes our present. Because yes, in the company of Christian Cooke, Sarah Bolger, Tom Austen, Orion Lee, and even Luke Pasqualino, we will return to 1997, when world chess champion Garry Kasparov faced a machine for the second time. A special match, which we owe to the IBM company, which is a perfect subject for a fast-paced psychological thriller!

Rematch : the true story, a fight for history

Does the machine have the means to beat us? Will artificial intelligence take over from humans? These are the questions raised by Rematch. Here, we follow in the footsteps of a great chess player, Garry Kasparov. In February 1996, aged 32, he established himself as the best in his field and perhaps even in history. To prove it, he faces a powerful computer, the Deep Blue. After a fairly tough fight, especially in the first round, the human will take over the machine. A victory that will stick in the throat of a certain Helen Brock, employee in the research and development department of IBM. While her position is in question, she will do everything to organize a new match. Kasparov is targeted, but will face a brand new computer… The creator of Deep Blue is in fact called upon to create an even more powerful machine, all with the help of Paul Nelson, a chess champion who has already draw against Garry Kasparov! No doubt, this is a fight like no other.

Kasparove against the machine, but who won?

You will have understood, by playing on the codes of the thriller, Rematch will plunge us into the past, while facing our present. Because yes, the challenge represented by artificial intelligence does not date from today, and represents a certain future. For neophytes, know that chess takes on a new dimension with this series: each of the six episodes witnesses a round of Kasparov’s game, when the super-computer Deep Blue will become a real character, with his own emotions… Suspense on all levels and other masterstrokes will be there in this series. That of a “rematch” -SPOILER ALERT- in which the machine imposed itself, forever shaking up the history of chess.
