The Big Bang Theory sequel already has actors

The next spin-off of The Big Bang Theory is under development. We already know three names from the cast, with a recurring actor from the original series.

Since the end of the cult series, The Big Bang Theory has not yet finished being on our screens. A first successful spin-off series, Young Sheldontold us about the childhood then the adolescence of this key character and his family. This spin-off, now finished, will itself have a sequel: Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage (not available for streaming in France anytime soon).

But what about the future, what happens after the end of the original series? Chuck Lorre is working on the issue, since it is HBO’s SVOD service, Max, which is developing this spin-off.

Secondary actors of The Big Bang Theory promoted?

This new series has been in pre-development since April 2023. But Chuck Lorre has since remained very discreet about the narrative of the project. While fans are hoping for a return of at least one or two members of the star cast, that hasn’t been confirmed either. One thing is more or less certain: Sheldon should not be there, Jim Parsons being behind the end of the original series; except to appear as a guest star of course.

But this October 10, Variety obtained some intriguing information on the casting of this sequel. Three actors from The Big Bang Theory should be back.

Among them, there is first Kevin Sussmann, the interpreter of Stuart Bloom. Integrated into the series from season 2, he became a secondary character at first, then recurring. He runs the comic book store, at the center of the lives of the characters in the series. He is also plunged into a relatively constant depression. It’s quite interesting to see him back in this sequel: in the presence of Stuart, continuity with the original series is assured.

Especially since another name is linked to him: Lauren Lapkus. This actress plays Denise. She joined the comic book store as co-manager. A relationship gradually develops between her and Stuart. Could this “couple” be at the center of the new series? This is something to really interest the fans, in any case.

Brian Posehn is the third name cited by Variety. He plays Bert, a geologist who only appears in 15 episodes, and who had the major distinction of being in love with Amy.

This is the only information that Variety has been able to obtain for the moment, but it already allows us to imagine a little bit of what this new series can give. We still don’t know if one or more members of the main cast will return, but it’s clearly starting to become clearer for this project.
