Deezer recently deleted millions of songs due to the use of AI, in particular, and Audible is not immune to the influence of this ultra-popular technology. On the Amazon platform, there are now just over 40,000 audiobooks generated by language models.

Unsurprisingly, AI makes it possible to generate audiobooks quickly and inexpensively and then put them online. But unlike the Deezer platform, their presence at Audible is assumed by the parent company, Amazon. In 2023, the company launched a tool allowing them to be easily created using this technology to meet the demand from independent authors.

Speaking to Bloomberg, an Amazon representative was pleased to have exceeded the 40,000 AI-generated audiobooks available on Audible with an average rating of 4 out of 5. Quid of the remuneration of narrators who bring stories to life using the human voice and are gradually being supplanted by this technology? The question arises, as always with these models.
For independent authors affected by this service, it is not always possible to pay for a professional. Hence Amazon’s choice to offer this tool for rapid audiobook creation with the aim of expanding its Audible catalog.
