Rarely is a joust as tasty as the one that the Combat des livres provokes. A pleasure that is renewed every spring and which will hit the airwaves shortly.

Thus, from May 27 to 30, five Canadian public figures will defend as many books, for the benefit of listeners who will ultimately vote for the winning book.

David Thibodeau, proud Quebecer who adopted the west, is a columnist, author and director. It is also at the heart of this territory that the book he will defend takes place, The version that interests no one, by Emmanuelle Pierrot, published in Quartanier. Remember that this first novel by the author was crowned with the Literary Prize for college students and it is a finalist for the Prix des libraires du Québec.

Multidisciplinary artist, Jocelyn Sioui is an actor, puppeteer and author. He will represent indigenous territories within the Combat des livres. Jocelyn Sioui proposes to highlight a work by the writer and musician Tomson Highway, The White Queen’s Kiss, published by Prize de parole. The novel relates the arrival of two Cree brothers at the residential school and who transcend reality through music, theater and dance.

Ontario journalist Alison Vicrobeck, who notably practices animation and production, invites you to discover the novel The African prince, the translator and the Nazi, by adopted Torontonian Didier Leclair, published by Éditions David. The author relates the positions taken against Nazism by black people during the Second World War.

Quebec actress and host Chantal Lamarre will extol the qualities of Francis Ouellette’s first novel, Fancy Molasses, published by La Mèche. Evoking with accuracy and a certain nostalgia the Faubourg à m’lasse, the author is distinguished by the dynamism and fantasy of his pen.

Finally, Diane Losier, an actress from New Brunswick who has established herself throughout Canada through her talent and passion, will offer The Foleys, by Annie-Claude Thériault, published in Marchand de Feuilles, whose story takes place in this province. The author tells the fate of five women from the same family at different times, all connected by the desire to survive.

So it’s a 7e exciting edition that host and journalist Marie-Louise Arsenault invites us. In the meantime, we invite you to discover these books which made their ardent defender vibrate.
