Thierry Neuvic (The Recruit) modestly discusses his private life

In The recruitlaunched by TF1 this Monday May 6 at 9:10 p.m., Thierry Neuvic plays the austere captain Vincent Béraud, forced against his will to team up with Kevin (Ethann Isidore17-year-old French actor revealed by the film Indiana Jones and the Clock of Destiny), a chattering and clever little criminal recruited by the police. For the actor, seen in Clara Sheller, Mafiosa, The House across the street or more recently Infiltrated alongside Audrey Fleurot, this new television adventure is as fun as it is profound.

The recruit : “When I met him, I saw what a rascal he was!”Thierry Neuvic talks about Ethann Isidore, his sidekick in the TF1 series

Télé-Loisirs: In an interview, you said: “Often my characters are not likeable at first but eventually improve.” Is it the same in The recruit ?
Thierry Neuvic
: Yes, my character tends to improve and his superior, who turns out to be his partner, helps him enormously. His confrontation with the younger generation forces him to listen. He has an ability to learn, despite his gruff and closed side.

Her trajectory follows the evolution of her relationship with young Kevin, played by Ethann Isidore. How did your collaboration go?
When we met, I saw what a rascal he was! I saw myself at his age, in this excitement, this crazy desire to do stunts. On the set, it was a collaboration that was half friend, half big brother, half paternal.

Your character displays resistance towards Kevin. We suspect that this reaction is linked to his past…
There is a form of projection towards Kevin, who is the same age as his son who mysteriously disappeared. He refuses her presence because the mourning is not over.

The recruit : “I chose this profession, which is not the case for the people around me”Thierry Neuvic explains why he wants to keep his private life away from the media

The series addresses the child/parent relationship…
Yes, the relationship with parents, with transmission, with education. Between this man and this boy, there are voids that awkwardly seek to be filled.

At this stage of your career, how do you make your choices?
More and more through subjects that affect me and encounters. I like to discuss with producers, authors, directors, in order to build things together, to mix points of view.

What would you like to play in the next thirty years?
Everything is open! As long as a character is well written and anchored in a good story. A big villain or a superhero, whatever you want! [Il rit.]

In interviews, you keep intimate subjects at bay. For what ?
I chose this profession, which is not the case for the people around me. So I don’t have to involve them. I even have to protect them. Unless they tell me one day “I want people to talk about me”. I don’t know if I would, but it would come from them.
