With “Le deer au brame”, Bourbonnais wildlife photographer Frank Pizon offers the opportunity to get to know the deer better.

“The stag bellows”. This is the title of Frank Pizon’s next book.
With this publication to be published at the end of summer 2024, the wildlife photographer offers to get to know the deer better during its breeding season:
“Quite a few works are devoted to it in this aspect,” he explains. “This animal has truly incredible social interactions, particularly in the bellowing phase. I wanted to tell how things happen, since the first bellows to the last rumbles, the term which characterizes the song of the deer”.

Behind this work composed of numerous photographs and short texts, an enormous work of identification and observations: “Eight years of photographs during the slab to show all the subtleties. These are all these nuances in terms of communication, postures, exchanges of glances, which will make this book original.

The Allier River, wild and indomitable, magnified in a book by Frank Pizon and the Focalis association

Why does the deer fascinate him?
“It is a species very rich in behavior. Rich in its relationship with its congeners. Rich, also, in its relationships with its living environment. It evolves in an increasingly fragmented environment, impacted by the presence and activities Despite everything, it is very resilient and adopts reproduction strategies that are extremely interesting to observe.

The deer were photographed in Allier, particularly in the Tronçais forest. We will also see them evolving in plains, in meadows, on the banks of ponds… Like the multiplicity of landscapes in the department:
“There are biotopes in Allier that are sufficiently different to observe very varied behaviors. We have enormous luck in Bourbonnais.”
