After only two evenings, M6 is reviewing its strategy for “The Golden Bachelor”. Due to lack of audience, the channel decides to broadcast the last four episodes at once.

For its start, the reality TV show “The Golden Bachelor” garnered low audiences. After the broadcast of the first two episodes, M6 immediately reacted. The channel’s decision? Stream the remaining episodes all at once.

An audience that doesn’t follow

For the uninitiated, “The Golden Bachelor” is a reality TV show that is aimed primarily at seniors. The program traces the adventures of Landry, a sixty-year-old single man who searches for love among 20 suitors.

Initially broadcast in the early part of the evening, the launch attracted only 875,000 curious people, an audience share of only 5.3%. A week later, the number of spectators even dropped to 776,000. Results which directly alarmed those responsible for programming.

Reactions and programming adjustments

Faced with disappointing audiences, the management of M6 decided to concentrate the broadcast of the last four episodes of the show in a single evening. According to Le Parisien, this television marathon is scheduled for Wednesday October 2, from 9:10 p.m.

As a result, the evening initially reserved for October 9 for “The Golden Bachelor” will instead broadcast a new episode of “Arnaques!”, the consumer magazine presented by Julien Courbet.

The initial failure of “The Golden Bachelor” questions the relevance of reality TV formats targeting older audiences. Although the show achieved good scores among 25-34 year olds, with audience shares of 19% and 21%, this success was not enough to arouse wider interest.
