Arrested by the Portuguese authorities on November 21, Abdoul Diallo, whose identity papers had been found by investigators, agreed to be extradited to France.
The 25-year-old man suspected of the September murder of Lilian Dejean, a Grenoble municipal agent, must be handed over to France on Thursday, November 28, a week after his arrest in Portugal, AFP learned from sources close to the case and airport.
Abdoul Diallo was arrested on November 21 in Póvoa de Lanhoso, 70 km north of Porto, after 74 days on the run. Targeted by a European arrest warrant, he did not oppose his surrender to France, according to the Portuguese police.
He is suspected of having killed the Guadeloupean, a 49-year-old cleaning agent, on September 8. This father was hit by a bullet in the chest while trying to hold back a man who had caused a traffic accident while driving a powerful rental car registered in Poland.
Identity papers in the name of Abdoul Diallo, residing in the suburbs of Grenoble, were found in the car abandoned by its driver who had fled on foot. Lilian Dejean died shortly after in hospital.
Grenoble prosecutor Eric Vaillant specified that the suspect had 19 convictions on his criminal record, many for acts of violence, but also for drug trafficking.
The drama had all the more resonance in Isère as it occurred in the middle of a black series for the metropolis of Grenoble, where according to the authorities a “gang war” between drug traffickers.
