Coupe de France: these incidents of play which weighed down Locminé at Le Mans

Quickly reduced to ten after the severe exclusion of his captain Marvin Luciathe, Locminé (N2) was stunned by a generous penalty just before half-time, Saturday, at (National).

Coupe de (8th round). Le Mans – Locminé (4-0)

On paper, there was a match between an unapologetic Locminé, who is discovering National 2 this season, and Le Mans, a poorly placed National. A single division of difference which was not at first obvious on the ground. But several incidents of play quickly dampened the hopes of the Bretons at the Marie-Marvingt stadium, where a good hundred of their supporters had made the trip.

“Honestly, I don’t touch it”

The first turning point in the match came shortly after the half-hour mark, when Saint-Co captain Marvin Luciathe received a second yellow card. Already warned for a slightly strong tackle (15'), the Breton playmaker was severely punished with a second warning for a high foot (26'). Reduced to ten, the Morbihannais began to suffer and the Sarthois were quick to open the scoring (1-0, 35'). Before another incident of play: a penalty generously awarded at Le Mans, which striker Dame Gueye did not hesitate to transform just before half-time (2-0, 42').

“Honestly, I don’t touch him,” assures Locminé midfielder Aurélien Soufache. “He plays the shot well. Good for them. Afterwards, the referee made his decision and it's up to us to get back into the match. But it's obviously harder with ten than with eleven. The exclusion of Marvin (Luciathe) is less debatable. The real turning point was this penalty, because I think we could have gone back to 1-0, even with ten men. The second goal really puts us in a tough spot. But we also have to do better in two or three situations. »

“The refereeing did not live up to the event”

Co-coach of Locminé with Florent Besnard, Jacques Pichard also did not hide his disappointment with the scenario of a match “where we were not favorites, but where there was a shot to play”: “We produced some play in the first quarter of an hour. We didn't see any gap between the two teams. In the second half, even ten against eleven, we didn't see much in the face.”

For the Breton technician, “the refereeing did not live up to the event”: “The first yellow for Marvin (Luciathe) is logical, but the second is severe. It becomes a habit to take out the box as soon as there is a high foot. And there is never a penalty on the second goal. It's one thing to lose, but not like that. It's disappointing for the players and for the small town that we are. There is no longer a single weekend where the match ends at 11 against 11. It’s a shame for the show, the public and the suspense.” Because there could have been a match this Saturday on the Le Mans field.
