From X Factor to Sanremo, a promising musical career

New appointment this evening on Canale 5 with “This Is Me”, the program by Silvia Toffanin which features many singing and dancing talents who took their first steps in the oldest talent show on television : Friend. After the audience records of the first show, today thirteen other protagonists of music and dance from Maria De Filippi's show will tell their stories in Silvia Toffanin's living room. With them, many guests will be present in the studio. Among them, there is also Gaia Gozzi.

Gaia Gozzi, who is she

Gaia Gozzi, known simply as Gaia, was born in Guastalla, Emilia on September 29, 1997 (she is 27 years old), to a Brazilian mother (former dancer) and an Italian father. She grew up in Viadana in Lombardy. From a young age, she showed a great interest in music, learning to play the guitar and singing in certain groups of friends. At 18, she left for the United States, an experience that allowed her to understand that her future was entirely devoted to music.

The X Factor experience

In 2016, she appeared at the X Factor auditions: after passing the castings and the Bootcamp, she joined the Under Donne team led that year by Fedez. In the final, she failed to achieve victory, stopping in second place, overtaken by Alvaro Soler's Soul System.

Amici

In 2019, she decided to get back into play at the most famous school in Italy, participating in the castings of Amici by Maria De Filippi. She reached prime time without too much difficulty and on April 3, 2020, the singer won the nineteenth edition of the talent by triumphing over Javier.

The career

Determined not to give up after the disappointment of X Factor, in 2017 she published the album “Fotogramas” and opened for Giorgia's concerts during the Oronero Tour. During her participation in the Amici show, Gaia wrote and composed several pieces which she then grouped together in the album “Genesi”, such as “Chega” (double platinum), “Coco Chanel” and “Fucsia”. Following her participation in the 2021 Sanremo Festival, her second album “Alma” was released, with the participation of several colleagues including Francesca Michielin, Gemitaiz, Margherita Vicario, Tedua, Selton and Sean Paul. In March 2023, she returned with the single “Estasi”, with which she performed throughout the summer in Italy. In the fall of the same year, she opened the dates for the Elodie Show 2023.

Sanremo

In 2021, Gaia is among the big ones competing at the Sanremo Festival with the song “Cuore amaro”, ranking in 19th place. That year, the Maneskins triumphed (“Zitti e buoni”), with Fedez (his former X Factor coach) and Francesca Michielin in second place and Ermal Meta on the third step of the podium. In 2024, she returned to the Ariston to sing a duet with her friend Big Mama, with whom she performed “Lady Marmalade” by Labelle.

Privacy

Very little is known about Gaia's private life: for over 4 years, she appears to have had a relationship with a boy named Giorgio. Her current boyfriend is Daniele Dezi, aka Orang3, one of the most important Italian producers (he has written songs for Achille Lauro, Coez and Clementino), with whom she has also collaborated on several occasions. The man is the father of a little girl with whom the singer seems to have an excellent relationship.

Curiosities

Gaia, in addition to Italian nationality, also has Brazilian nationality and speaks Portuguese fluently, the language in which she sings some of her most famous songs like “Chega” (meaning “arrives” in Italian). Forbes Italy magazine, in 2023, ranked the singer among the five Italians under 30 who will have the most impact in the future in the music category. On December 21, 2023, the film “Wish” will be released in cinemas, celebrating 100 years of “The Walt Disney Company”, in which Gaia dubbed the protagonist Asha, in addition to having performed entirely on the original soundtrack. Other dubbing participants also include Amadeus and Michele Riondino.
