In Villefranche-de-Lauragais, the kick-off of the Telethon 2024 will be given Friday, November 29, at 6 p.m., from the fire and rescue center. L'Firefighters' Associationwho coordinates the city-wide mobilization, will be accompanied for the occasion by municipal elected officials and representatives of local associations who are also participating in this event launched at the same time at the national level.
“For this second Telethon, we wanted to aim bigger than last year, our partners even extend beyond our municipality,” says Jean-Mathieu Remondfirefighter in the fire station Villefranche-de-Lauragais and local Telethon representative.
Entertainment for young and old
On Saturday, the day will begin at noon in the hall with a convivial meal. On the menu: aligot and sausage (€10 for a meal or €12 with a glass of wine). From 2 p.m., the entertainment will take over with a fun and interactive course.
Equipped with a cardboard box, voluntary participants will visit the association stands (rugby, handball, twirling, gym, and many others). Each stand will offer an activity, allowing you to collect stamps on the cardboard. Among the highlights of the afternoon: challenges led by firefighters at the rural homeincluding cardiac massage workshops and smoke immersions or a pedal tractor course loaned by a farmers' association.
Participants will be able to perform a free gift at the end of the activities and thus register for the tombola. The draw will take place at 6 p.m. with surprise prizes, ranging from places on the ride to tickets for a TFC match.
A giant Madison
The festivities will continue with the inauguration of the Christmas lights at 7 p.m.in the presence of the mayor of Villefranche-de-Lauragais, Valérie Roudet. A mulled wine will then be offered by the municipality.
Finally, a dance party will begin at 7:30 p.m., hosted by a giant Madison in partnership with the local association let's dance. The objective? Bring together as many participants as possible and surpass the record for the tallest Madison from France which brought together 2,000 people!
A solidarity event
Last year the Villefranche-de-Lauragais firefighters collected 1 018 € donations thanks to their mobilization. They hope to exceed that amount this year. All donations will be donated to the AFM Téléthon which works to combat genetic diseases.
This edition will also be marked by the participation of the Rocher familywhose father is the sponsor of the event. Her three children suffer from limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. and are thus directly concerned by the organization of the Telethon. A presence that gives meaning to this united gathering.
