Very significant amounts of water fell yesterday afternoon in the department, up to 75 mm. The rain continued all night, particularly in the Brivist basin.
The Lanteuil sector was particularly affected: 5 people were brought to safety, 15 houses were flooded and 30 students were evacuated.
Throughout the department, the SDIS carried out around forty interventions.
This morning, 80 homes remain cut off from electricity, notably in Treignac, Veix, Malemort and Argentat.
Several roads were flooded: the RD 28E and the RD 28 in Saillac, the RD147 in Cublac, the RD178 in Suddenlye Lavinadière, the RD15 in Chapelle aux Saints. They are now open.
However, caution remains essential today, particularly for motorists, as the rain continues.
I am postponing all my trips on foot or by car. I stay or enter a building.
I’m not taking my car, a few centimeters of water are enough to wash it away.
I don’t go down into basements or underground parking lots.
I move away from waterways, banks and bridges. To avoid lightning, I do not take refuge under a tree.
