A 23-year-old young man dies in a frontal collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a car near

A serious road accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday July 19. A car and a heavy goods vehicle collided in a frontal impact on the D23, in Évry, between Cuy and Gisy-les-Nobles.

The driver of the light vehicle died. It would be Corentin Nicolas, a 23-year-old young man living in Sergines, according to Mayor André Pitou. “He is a young man from the town whom we knew well, he grew up here and his parents still live in the village. His mother works in the municipality. This drama affects us twice,” says the councilor serginot.

Shocked, the driver of the heavyweight was evacuated to the hospital center. She underwent check-ups there. According to our information, his screening tests were negative. The causes of the accident are unknown at this stage.

The deceased had to be extricated by firefighters. Blood samples were taken from the victim. The results will be communicated in the coming days. “The road axis was closed in both directions to traffic on the D23, while the judicial investigations were carried out. A diversion was set up 400 meters upstream (at the junction between the D472 and the D23) and at more than 400 meters downstream”, indicates squadron leader Mickaël Serin, commander of the Sens gendarmerie company.

Firefighters still on site after Fontenoy restaurant fire

Traffic was able to resume around 4 p.m. The rescue operations notably mobilized nine soldiers from the Pont-sur-Yonne gendarmerie brigade, and two gendarmes from the Sens motorized platoon. At the same time, sixteen firefighters from Sens and Pont-sur-Yonne came to the site.
