Australian Open > Darren Cahill, co-coach of Jannik Sinner: “I know he is only 23, but sometimes we have the impression that he is much older and wiser than us”

This Sunday, Jannik Sinner will try to defend his title in Melbourne against Alexander Zverev in the final of the Australian Open.

Co‐coach with Simone Vagnozzi of the world number 1, Darren Cahill praised the maturity of his player at a press conference.

“I think it’s not easy to come back and defend a major title for the first time in your career. He had to face problems. We couldn’t be more proud of the way he handled himself, both on and off the field, the fight he put up, his resilience. I know he’s only 23, but sometimes it feels like he’s a lot older and wiser than us. He is an incredible young man. It’s no surprise for us to find him in the final. I think his level has been excellent for a long time, but his level here in Australia is even better. He loves playing in Australia. »
