Drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 National Hockey League draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Borgen blossomed upon his arrival with the Seattle Kraken during the 2021-2022 season.

Last year, he had his best career campaign, amassing 25 points in 82 outings. He was traded to the Rangers on December 18 for forward Kaapo Kakko. In 17 games with the Big Apple club this year, the defender had a goal and two assists for three points.
