On January 14, 2025 around 2 p.m. the body of a 74-year-old man, with multiple stab wounds, was found at Point des Châteaux. The investigation entrusted to the gendarmerie led to the arrest of six people. Five were indicted this Friday, January 24 and placed in pre-trial detention, announced Caroline Calbo, the public prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre.
When on January 14, 2025 around 2 p.m. the body of a man in his seventies was found at Pointe des Châteaux, in Saint-François, the gendarmerie immediately made the link with the worrying disappearance of a resident of Anse à La Gourde. In the early morning of the same day, the missing person’s vehicle was found burned on Chemin de Bragelone.
The investigation is then entrusted to the Research Section of the Guadeloupe national gendarmerie. Very quickly, investigations established that the victim had been kidnapped from his home in the night, brutalized, kidnapped, before being killed at Pointe des Châteaux and his body thrown into the sea.
Six people related to each other were arrested on January 22, 2024.
-Five of them were presented to an investigating judge today. They are indicted on charges of kidnapping and sequestration followed by the death of the victim and assassination and placed in pre-trial detention (except for the last debate, which will begin before the judge of freedoms and detention), at the time of publication of the press release from Caroline Calbo, public prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre.
