A mayor of Meurthe-et- receives the Marianne d’Or from sustainable development

And three! The mayor of Tomblaine, Hervé Féron, received his third Marianne d’Or on Wednesday January 22, 2025, during a ceremony organized at Espace Jean-Jaurès. For the occasion, Alain Trampoglieri, national secretary and creator of this distinction (with Edgar Faure), was present to put the golden bust back to the councilor. “The Golden Marianne is a purely honorary national distinction but it is still a beautiful satisfaction for a mayor and a real recognition for his commune,” said the elected official.

Created in 1983, the Golden Marianne of the French Republic distinguish elected officials each year who engage in favor of the general interest in a creative and innovative way, in different categories. This time, it is in the “sustainable development” category that Hervé Féron distinguished himself, in particular for his participative project to plant an urban microForêt of 2,500 square meters between the Marcel Picot stadium and the Meurthe, in 2024. An operation entitled “In Tomblaine, we all plant for the planet!” “During the two planting phases that were held in March and October 2024,” 1,200 people came to participate every week “. In total, just over 9,000 trees have been planted, “the equivalent of a tree per capita”.

At the time of the official presentation, several people were invited on stage: Isaac Legagneur, one of the youngest participants, François Pierron, the dean of the participants (83 years old), Patrice Sohier, who holds the record with 300 trees planted with him Alone, and Claire GASS, head of the environmental service of the municipality. “I really wanted to share this moment with the inhabitants of Tomblaine because it is above all a participatory project to which they fully contributed. »»

Small additional detail, this is a new series by Marianne d’Or with a completely revised design. “For this occasion the first 20 copies were numbered. And it was the number 1 that was given to me yesterday. A beautiful symbolism. This Golden Marianne, they also deserved it. »»

Many projects to come

At the end of the ceremony, Hervé Féron took the opportunity to detail the upcoming developments during the year 2025, enrolled in the ecocitoyan project of the town. Starting with the creation of a “garden of silence”, in the immediate vicinity of urban microForêt, thought as a place of “rest” and “tranquility” thanks to the planting of a “dense vegetation” which will play a role sound wall. An orchard will also complete the development of this plot (located at the VIP car parks of the football stadium) where local essences will be planted exclusively. Open to the public, free picking will be allowed there. A second orchard, with an educational vocation, will be created next to the Pierre Brossolette elementary school.

Finally, on the grip of the old football field of the Flageul plain, currently in the fallow state, must be created a “remarkable garden” combining pedestrian path and preservation of biodiversity. “Being classified as a wetland, it is not possible to build on it,” says Hervé Féron. An adjoining educational farm, “in the shape of a Noah’s Ark” must also come out of the ground, on an unassembled small grip.

Third distinction received

This new Marianne is added to the other two previously obtained. In 2017, Hervé Féron was the first elected official of Meurthe-et-Moselle to receive this honorary distinction under the public service of proximity and social cohesion, then in 2020, in the midst of a health crisis, under solidarity. “This followed the various actions carried out during this period, with in particular the implementation of a device in order to ensure the races for the elderly or the launch of a web to which everyone could contribute in order to keep the link between the inhabitants. »»
