The city of Matane is preparing to vibrate to the rhythm of hockey with a major sporting event, the Matane Pro-Elite Tournament, which will take place from April 25 to 27 at the Colisée Béton Provincial.
Organized in collaboration with the Amqui Semi-Pro Tournament, the competition will promise to offer fans of La Matanie, La Matapédia and the surrounding regions high-caliber hockey and a unique experience.
“The players come from all over Quebec and even from other provinces like New Brunswick. These are chums who will form teams in which we will find the best talents from different levels such as senior, university, the North American League (LNAH), and even professional players,” indicates the co-organizer of the event. Maxime Charest.
“To provide access to our next generation in the region, we offer a Junior AA and AAA class. It will be exciting to see the teams compete to represent their part of the country,” adds Brian Bernier, who also organizes the tournament.
A $12,000 scholarship will be awarded to the champion team. In addition, part of the funds raised from ticket sales will be donated to local organizations.
“A bit like Groupe Avenir (which produces the tournament) does with the Castors, we want to give back to our community. Although the beneficiaries cannot yet be announced, I can confirm that we are going to focus on our local youth, who are very close to our hearts,” comments Brian.
-Tickets will go on sale next week. The two packages that will be available will allow spectators the chance to win prizes that will be offered by businesses in Amqui and Matane. The prices will be known during the press conference planned in the coming days.
Furthermore, there is still time to form your team to participate in the tournament. Registration is also free. The organization is also ready to welcome new sponsors into the adventure.
“It’s still possible to register your team, even if it goes quite quickly! If ever there are Quebec organizations that want to join, we are open. Let’s be completely transparent: we want the best caliber of hockey possible, so we don’t charge the players. We even have a budget to welcome them properly, in partnership with hotels in the region, for example. Max and I have ideas of greatness, so we are always ready to develop the tournament so that it becomes a must in the region. We are not closing the door to new partnerships either. Interested organizations can either contact me for Matane or Maxime for Amqui. We really want to promote businesses in both cities and our two regions,” says Brian.
A big party to end the tournament
The Pro-Elite Tournament is also intended to be a major community celebration accessible to all ages. The event is not just limited to hockey, since a special evening will be held at the end of the tournament. Full details will be revealed by the organization shortly, but attendees can expect to celebrate in style with “a well-known local artist who has often been associated with hockey.” »
