The Ukrainian authorities announced on Friday of new compulsory evacuations of families with children in the eastern Donetsk region.
This announcement comes in the aftermath of a similar decision by the authorities of the Kharkiv Region (northeast), illustrating the dramatic situation of the Ukrainian army which loses ground daily, after three years of Russian invasion.
“We have decided to start the compulsory forced evacuation of families with children” in 25 small localities located near the city of Pokrovsk, the main target of the Russian army in this area, and around the village of Komar, further south , said the governor of the Donetsk region on Telegram.
A total of 110 children still live in this sector, said Governor Vadym Filachkin.
-“Today, when the enemy has intensified the bombing of the Donetsk region, which people suffer and die every day, I ask parents to take the evacuation in a very responsible manner,” said the governor in the press release.
“Children must live in peace and calm and not hide from bombing,” he continued.
The Russian troops, better armed and more numerous than the Ukrainian soldiers, have been advancing for more than a year on the east front, their progression having been strongly accelerated since last fall.
