Farmer’s life shattered after his 40 cows die in fire

“It’s a part of his life that’s broken. It’s his whole life, it’s been around fifteen years since he went into agriculture,” said the uncle of the farm owner, François Mailhot, in an interview with Noovo Info. His nephew, on vacation in Punta Cana, was informed of the tragedy during the morning.

The intervention of around thirty firefighters was necessary to bring the fire under control. It was also a worker who noticed the spread of smoke at dawn.

“The fire started in the barn and spread to the farm,” explains the division head of the City of Bécancour Fire Department, Richard Larrivee. This excludes for the moment the theory of arson. The firefighters had the support of the MRC de Bécancour and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The fire, which completely destroyed the stable, fortunately did not damage other buildings on the property.
