Two new fires broke out overnight from Wednesday to Thursday around the city of Los Angeles, California, forcing the evacuation of more than 31,000 people.

A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in the Bel-Air region, ravaging more than 4,000 hectares in the space of a few hours, according to the California Department of Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

A second forest fire, the Sepulveda fire, spread to the north of Los Angeles, not far from the Palisades district, where the fires which broke out since the beginning of January have burned nearly 10,000 hectares, and consumed thousands of people. constructions.

In addition to the 31,000 people forced to evacuate, some 23,000 others were asked to prepare for such an eventuality, the American press reported.

These fires are exacerbated by a severe lack of precipitation and strong winds of up to 110 km/h expected throughout the day Thursday, the National Weather Service warned.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles County, the fires that have ravaged the Pacific Palisades and Eaton areas for two weeks, and which have burned more than 15,000 structures, have been 70% and 95% contained, respectively.
