Russian strikes kill three people and injure more than fifty in three regions of Ukraine

Russian missile, aerial bomb and drone strikes in Ukraine on Thursday left at least three people dead and more than fifty injured in three regions of the country, according to local Ukrainian authorities.

The Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office reported one civilian dead and three injured following the attack on the town of Kostiantynivka by Russian gliding bombs. This city, located just a few kilometers from the front and serving as a garrison for the Ukrainian army, is often the target of attacks from Moscow.

A little further north, a 54-year-old woman was killed by an explosive drone near the town of Kupiansk, in the Kharkiv region, an area exposed to constant Russian attacks, the local governor said.

For their part, emergency services in the large city of Zaporizhia said one person was killed and 51 others injured, including four firefighters and a two-month-old child, during missile and drone attacks overnight. Rescuers released images of a destroyed building and a damaged fire truck that were hit in a second attack on site, authorities said.

“We need more sanctions against Russia, more air defense systems to protect our cities and communities, and more weapons for our warriors on the front lines”declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram following this series of attacks.

Ivan Fedorov, governor of the Zaporizhia region, specified for his part that the oblast had been the target of 361 strikes on 10 localities in 24 hours, including 4 with missiles on the town of Zaporizhia and 188 with drones. The regional prosecutor’s office announced that it had opened a preliminary investigation for war crimes.
