A large fire caused significant damage on Thursday at a recycling plant in Kaiseraugst (AG), not far from the railway lines. No one was injured. An investigation was opened to establish the origin of the disaster.

The fire started around 11:30 a.m. in a hall on the Thommen company site, in the immediate vicinity of the Kaiseraugst SBB station. The flames spread to a neighboring office building, said the Aargau police. The twenty or so employees present were evacuated and examined. No one had to be hospitalized.

A large number of firefighters from the region were mobilized. A SBB rescue and extinguishing train was also requested.
