Sunday January 19, 2025, the senior women’s team of the Sporting club of Morlaix drew (0 to 0) against Plouvien. A positive match in the eyes of the new coach, Alexy Arnaudas-Sassi, despite some regrets: “We had opportunities, but without succeeding in making it happen. I really liked the commitment, desire and application of the players. This will help us for the next matches.”
Moving from mixed to women’s football
Three years after its creation, the senior section is still struggling to recruit: “We have a workforce of around 14 women. It’s not enough for a whole season. Don’t hesitate to join us, even beginners are welcome! “, continued Alexy Arnaudas-Sassi. A senior section, created three years ago, and which fills a void, as Lou Cosquer, 18, recalls: “I played football at Sporting with the boys, until I was 14. Afterwards I didn’t know where to go, and I stopped. However, I love playing football! So when Sporting created its senior section, I came back, and I don’t regret it, because there’s a great atmosphere! “.
A real team spirit
The senior section brings together all ages, from Lou to Floriane Guengant, 34 years old, and all levels too: “I joined the team three years ago, to play sport, to surpass myself, and because I’m immersed in football with my family. I had never played before, but in contact with the more experienced players, the other beginners and I, we gave everything, and we progressed! », testifies Floriane.
-For Sarah Kervellec, 22, who trained in Plougonven since she was 10, joining Sporting was a challenge: “It’s exciting to help create a team! Especially since we feel that the whole club is behind us! “.
