Yesterday, we learned that four Israeli women held in Gaza are to be released by Hamas this Saturday. Releases which should follow those of three young women last Sunday, released in exchange for the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, under the truce agreement. Details of this agreement have not been officially released. But these series of prisoner exchanges are supposed to take place at more or less regular intervals over six weeks, and concern a total of 33 Israeli hostages and around 1,900 Palestinian prisoners. In all, 91 people are still hostages in Gaza.
The two French hostages, Ofer Kalferon and Ohad Yahalomi are among the 33 hostages who must be released, according to Head of State Emmanuel Macron. But they should therefore not be released this week. On RMC Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, assured that France had “no news” on the state of health of the two French hostages or on their conditions of detention.
Olivier Jaoui, member of the family of Ofer Kalderon, Franco-Israeli hostage held by Hamas, and president of the association “Vies Brisés – October 7”, is our guest. He will tell us what state of mind he is in, and how he experiences these liberations in dribs and drabs? How is he coping with the absence of news and a potential release date? Has the truce in Gaza given him hope? Ofer Kalderon’s children, Sahar and Erez, were also held captive by Hamas and were released. Olivier Jaoui will tell us how they experienced their liberation, and how they live waiting for their father’s release. Children who also experienced the tragedy of having lost their grandmother, Carmela, assassinated by Hamas on October 7, with her granddaughter Noya Dan.
