Western intelligence services followed the affair closely: four parcel bombs, ready to catch fire in flight, were introduced into several airports in Europe. This summer, in July, fires occurred at Leipzig Airport in Germany, Birmingham in the United Kingdom and Warsaw in Poland.
These packages were ordinary in appearance. A massage cushion, sex toys, cosmetic creams… Nothing abnormal in the scanners at the DHL counter in Vilnius, Lithuania. After checking, investigators found traces of magnesium, a device with a detonator and a timer for each package. The idea was that the package would catch fire in flight. Which would have been enough to cause the devices to crash.
