The Temple du Trot welcomes us under ideal weather conditions: 8 degrees, a lightly cloudy sky and a southwest wind blowing at 18 km/h. The large track, with its famous rope on the left, is in optimal condition. The machefer perfectly absorbed the recent precipitation, providing a soft but not sticky track – conditions that I particularly appreciate for unearthing outsiders. Having walked around the stables this morning, I can guarantee that the atmosphere is electric!
Analysis of the starters
1 – IDEAL GREEN
A resident of the Heslouin stable, this 7-year-old gelding is going through a difficult time as evidenced by his boisterous music. His last outing ended in a disappointing seventh place. Of course, it will be presented with all four feet unshod today, but between us, at the counter of the PMU in Montmartre where I have my coffee every morning, no one wants it. Even his usual driver confided to me half-heartedly that he was lacking in condition. To watch run.
2 – IDEAL DE RIVRAY
Ah, let’s talk about that one! I saw him win by a whole class last December 14 on this same course. Little Kévin Ait Ouakli, his trainer, did wonders with him. That day, he set a fantastic time of 1’12”9. Certainly, his last outing in Angers was disappointing, but he was shod. Today, not only does he find his irons in the locker room, but he also inherits Jean-Michel Bazire! Having followed his last training session on Tuesday morning, I can tell you that he is sharp as a flint.
3 – INHERIT
This 7-year-old gelding trained by Beaufils is a real trotting machine. In his last ten races, there are no fewer than four victories and three places. His fourth place in the Prix de Lectoure is all the more remarkable as he was never able to lag behind. He keeps Verva at his sulky, who knows him perfectly. This morning at the paces, he made a wonderful impression on me. At 6/1, it’s a real opportunity.
4 – HAIKIDO
Watch out for this 8 year old gelding! His last race was certainly not famous, but he had previously achieved two good second places. The commitment is favorable and with Nivard in charge, he can create a surprise. I saw him this morning during the warm-up, he seemed much more relaxed than during his last outings. At good odds, he deserves wide credit.
5 – GAMIN DU GAULTIER
Dessartre’s protégé is no longer very young at 9 years old, but he still has some good looks. His recent fourth place shows that he is not finished. Unshod on all four feet today, he finds Benjamin Rochard who knows him well. Having followed him in training yesterday, I can tell you that he still has the desire. An outsider not to be completely overlooked.

6 – INSIGHT SPOKEN
The resident of Loïc Groussard is coming off a convincing victory on this course. Eric Raffin remains faithful to the position, and the coach does not hide his optimism – he even told me this morning that he had rarely seen him so well. At 7 years old, it reaches full maturity. An obvious first chance.
7 – IBIS PETTEVINIERE
David Bonne knows him like the back of his hand since he is both the trainer and the driver. His second place behind Instant d’Haufor shows that he is back at the top. Unshod on all four feet, he will enjoy this course. I timed him in training yesterday: he’s sharp!
8 – HAPPY FLOWER
Don’t be fooled by his last disqualification! Before that, he had won easily at Graignes. Séverine Raimond has honed it perfectly, and Lagadeuc knows how to draw out its quintessence. I saw him training this morning: a real bomb! Late in winnings, he can hit hard.
9 – IN AND FRIE
The resident of Roussel alternates between the good and the less good, but he remains competitive at this level. His recent second place proves that he is a force to be reckoned with. Vercruysse knows it by heart. Having seen him during the warm-up, he seemed to me to be in great physical shape. A potential spoilsport.
10 – GAUCHO OF THE KNOW
With Matthieu Abrivard at the helm, you always have to be wary. His recent third place did not go unnoticed in the PMU tobaccos. I saw him this morning: he looks and feels good. An outsider not to be condemned too quickly.

11 – FOKKER DE BAILLY
At 10 years old, he is no longer young, and his latest outings are not very convincing. Even with all four feet unshod, he will have difficulty competing. I looked at it this morning: it seemed less sharp than in its heyday. Difficult to recommend.
12 – INSTANT D’HAUFOR
The student of Christian Bigeon comes out of a convincing victory. With David Thomain, they form a formidable duo. I saw him warming up this morning: he stayed on track. Even if he sometimes lacks consistency, he can hit hard on the big day.

At 10 years old, his best years are behind him. His last outings are too average to trust him. Even if Piton knows him well, he will have difficulty competing. I saw it this morning: it visibly lacks freshness. To avoid.
14 – IMPERIAL DURABUTIN
The richest of the lot often finishes in the top five. Unshod on all four feet and with Ouvrie, he has arguments. I observed him during the warm-up: he is in top condition. A serious candidate for places.

My friends, hold on to your tickets: my golden horse of the day is INHERIT (3). I know, I know, some will tell me there are more obvious favorites, but let me tell you why I’m putting my shirt on him. First, look at this music: metronome regularity with his four victories and three places in his last ten outings. Certainly, he has just finished fourth in the Prix de Lectoure, but that was after a nightmare race where Verva was never able to overtake him. This morning in training, I saw him doing his paces and believe my experience of 30 years on racetracks: he is in top form. In addition, Pierre-Yves Verva knows it by heart. At 6/1, this is an opportunity not to be missed, whether in singles or in coupled combinations with Ideal de Rivray. If you only play one horse today, it’s him!

INHERIT (3) represents the strongest base of this Quinté. His consistency is impressive with four victories and three places in his last ten outings. He masters this course perfectly and, this morning at the paces, he made a fantastic impression on me. Pierre-Yves Verva knows it like the back of his hand.

In addition to INHERIT, two other bases stand out. First, IDEAL DE RIVRAY (2) which finds Jean-Michel Bazire and his victorious configuration from December. His last work was impressive and he will be 100% today. GAMIN DU GAULTIER (5) is my loser with good odds. At 25/1, this 9 year old will surprise everyone. Benjamin Rochard knows him perfectly and the horse will be unshod on all four feet. This morning in training, his pace was remarkable. This is the kind of horse that can dynamite relationships.
The winning tier of the day
For the Tiercé, I propose: INHERIT (3) as leader, accompanied by IDEAL DE RIVRAY (2) and INSIGHT SPOKEN (6). These three horses are the most reliable of the lot and their drivers are top notch. The track suits them perfectly and they are all in great shape. A Tiercé in order that could pay off big!
2 out of 4 with good odds
For 2 out of 4, I’m betting on the HEUREUX DE FLEUR (8) and HAIKIDO (4) association. These two outsiders have the means to finish in the top four. Their last morning exercises were convincing and their drivers are in good shape. At their current ratings, the ratio would be tasty.
