Our collaborator Andy Romanoff who lives in Los Angeles send us this announcement.
Los Angeles is in distress right now and many photographers who live there have also been hit hard. Claudia James Bartlett of Photo LA et Aline Smithson of LENSSCRATCH held a fundraiser to help them recover. They write on GoFundMe:
“Our urgent goal is to raise $300,000 to provide direct support to photographers who lost their homes, studios and personal property not covered by FEMA in the Eaton, Palisades, Sunset fires. and others in the Los Angeles area. »
“We are asking for support from photographers, galleries and collectors around the world. Our local community is already distraught by the devastation around it. We hope that readers far from here will also respond to our call. »
Photo LA has been supporting the photography community for over thirty years and LENSSCRATCH has been helping the community for over eighteen years. They are committed to distributing funds and contributions to those most affected by these fires, prioritizing based on need.
As a local resident, I can attest to this need. We hosted four people in our home last week, including a woman who lost everything. Watching them spend their days gathering the simple things necessary for survival clearly shows me the mammoth task that awaits those who are also trying to rebuild their professional lives.
One last thing, the photos here were taken by Lucas Passmore, a local photographer. The images are of his house. This should give you a complete picture of the situation. Please help us if you can.
