Algeria Football – Bayern Munich and German national team legend Lothar Matthäus has singled out Algerian international Ramy Bensebaini, currently playing for Dortmund, for his role in the team’s poor performances this season. Matthäus said the experienced left-back does not bring added value to Dortmund, while calling him a difficult player due to his temperament.
Borussia Dortmund is going through a period of crisis marked by disappointing results in the Bundesliga. The club recently suffered a 2-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 18, slipping to 10th place in the standings. Since the resumption of the season, Dortmund has suffered three consecutive defeats, arousing the anger of supporters and strong criticism of several players, including Bensebaïni.
In comments reported by the German site Ruhr24 from the television show of Sky SportsMatthäus strongly criticized Bensebaïni:
“Bensebaini brings nothing to Dortmund. It has no added value. At Mönchengladbach they let him go because of his character and his stubbornness, and yet he ended up at Dortmund. What does it bring them? Nothing. »
Matthäus also commented on the Algerian’s performance in the defeat to Frankfurt:
“He was not present on the field. »
However, these comments were qualified by the reminder that Bensebaïni was not expelled from Gladbach. He left the club freely when his contract expired, after refusing to extend to join Dortmund. Despite a promising start, the Algerian defender’s fluctuating performances remain under fire in a delicate period for Borussia Dortmund.
