Important duel in the Eastern race in New York
Two teams in the heat of the race for a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference will cross swords as the Ottawa Senators visit the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden (7 p.m. ET; MSG, TSN5, RDS2).
The Senators (24-18-4) have collected at least one point in each of their last six games (5-0-1) and currently occupy the first fourth place in the East, one point behind the Tampa Lightning Bay and third place in the Atlantic section.
This is the first six-game streak with at least one point for Ottawa since a series of seven games between March 2 and 14, 2017 (6-0-1).
The Rangers (22-20-4) are not to be outdone, with one point in eight consecutive games (5-0-3), which allowed them to approach within three points of the second place of fourth ace in ballast.
-Artemi Panarin joined Steve Vickers for ninth place in Rangers history by collecting his 340th assist with New York in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday.
Jonathan Quick is still looking for his 400th career victory after suffering losses in each of his last three starts. He is attempting to become the first American-born goalie to reach that plateau.
