Placed in pre-trial detention, pending his trial for sex trafficking which will begin on May 5, 2025, rapper and producer P. Diddy reportedly saw one of his properties destroyed by the Los Angeles fires. This is, in any case, what some Internet users say, who even insinuate that the fire could be good news for the artist.
Several publications, all illustrated by the same photo, are circulating on social networks. We see a huge house ravaged by flames, which would be that of the famous rapper. “P. Diddy’s mansion in California was completely destroyed by flames”says one of these posts.
“Notable fact: the residence was to be the subject of an investigation in the coming days, involving several names. Unfortunately, this will no longer be possible”continues the description. Could the impressive fire have caused the disappearance of elements useful to the various investigations targeting P. Diddy?
No… All the speculation surrounding the fire is false, for one simple reason: the house that burned is not Sean Combs’s — P. Diddy’s real name.
P. Diddy’s house is intact
The artist does own a large house in Los Angeles, but it was spared by the flames. Many images of this property are available on the internet. Taken when the villa was put up for sale or when it was searched by federal agents in March 2024 as part of the investigation targeting the producer, they allow the residence to be clearly identified. And, with its large white facade and swimming pool, it doesn’t look like the stone mansion in the photographs.
This information makes it easy to find the location of P. Diddy’s house, the sale offer for which is still available on the real estate listings site Zillow. It is located in the Holmby Hills neighborhood, one of the most expensive in Los Angeles.
Using fire progress maps provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, it can be seen that the closest blaze to the property is Palisades, and that it was never found in an area under an evacuation order, as verified by AFP.
Satellite images, which date from January 14 and are available on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s California fire map, also show that the rapper’s property had not been affected at the time the posts were posted. line.
-Conspiracy theories
The famous burning mansion, photos of which are circulating online, has also been identified. This is a property located in Indian Hill, Ohio, which appeared in several articles in the local and national press after it caught fire in 2014. The photos, shared thousands of times in recent days, were taken by the photographer of Cincinnati Enquirer Joseph Fuqua II and are available on his website.
P. Diddy’s Los Angeles house is therefore indeed intact. But the misinformation has fueled conspiracy stories surrounding the legal cases surrounding the rapper. Some Internet users saw in the alleged fire a well-rehearsed plan implemented by those around the accused, to make evidence disappear.
“Does anyone else think it’s weird that the fires started in Hollywood out of nowhere after the P Diddy incident? »asks an Internet user on TikTok. “I think Beyoncé started the fires to destroy Diddy’s house and the rest of the evidence. » This gratuitous accusation is linked to the fact that Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, is the subject of a complaint for a rape he allegedly committed with P. Diddy. The rapper denies these accusations.
The reasons for the outbreak of these fires are more to be found in the effects of climate change. In the region, such fires are breaking out earlier and earlier in the year, under the combined effects of global warming, hot Californian winds and dry vegetation.
