The president of Victoria United, Valentine Nkwain, is talking about him again. At the end of the match between his club and Dynamo (1-1), he burst onto the pitch at the Middle Farm stadium. In fact, he moved fiercely towards the referee body, red with anger. He addressed the referee Beboule Amayene who was trying to reach the locker room. The images speak for themselves. Even the intervention of Ina Ngassa, Dynamo coach, to bring him to his senses was unsuccessful.
For several hours, reactions of indignation have been making the rounds on the web. However, we believed that such images were relegated to the Greek calendars. No. Valentine Nkwain once again fuels the debates. Threats deemed “unacceptable” according to Blaise Nama, Canon de Yaoundé supporter: “Anyone can show up in a stadium and threaten the referees. We saw what happened with Lausanne a few years ago already in Olembé. The club was hit hard. Today, this club has disappeared. Let us stop being complacent with some people. This double standard creates tensions. Tomorrow, another president will do it and it will become widespread. This is not the first time that Valentine Nkwain has been talked about.”
So far, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot) has not yet reacted; at least officially. “This is a serious act. Fécafoot could have made an exit quickly to protect the referees in order to send a strong message to other presidents and supporters. Referees are not perfect. When there are errors, we make reservations. Even the penalty awarded to Victoria by this referee is at the center of the debates. You have to know how to keep reason. We are awaiting the decision of the specialized bodies of Fécafoot regarding this regrettable situation,” insisted Yves Meva, football fan.
