After the kidnapping alert was triggered for two children, Mohammed and Nassim, 3 and 5 years old, the boys were found this Monday, January 20 in Beuvrages, in the North, around 9 p.m., BFMTV first reported. They are “ safe and sound “, declared a source close to the matter to AFP.
The children were found by police “in the street” near their father’s home in Beuvrages, near Valenciennes, according to the same source. Their father was arrested immediately, a police source told AFP. He is suspected of having kidnapped them at gunpoint
The father has just been released from prison
The two children were with their mother on the public highway when they were kidnapped, around 1:10 p.m. Monday. The events took place on rue Jean-Jaurès, a “shopping street” from the city center of Fourmies, the mayor of this city, Mickaël Hiraux, told AFP earlier.
Aged 38 and just released from prison, the suspect is prohibited from being in the presence of his ex-partner who has a telephone « grave danger »a protection system for people threatened by their former spouse, this same source explained to AFP.
-“They are not residents of Fourmies, as far as I know”Mickaël Hiraux told AFP. “As the mother suffered domestic violence and we have support structures here for such people, it is possible that she came (to Fourmies, Editor’s note) in this context”he estimated.
An investigation has been opened, the Avesnes-sur-Helpe public prosecutor’s office told AFP, planning to communicate further on the case on Tuesday.
