This sum has been the same for more than twenty years, specifies the American channel CBS, which indicates that between 1969 and 2001, the American president had a salary of 200,000 dollars (192,000 euros).
Still according to the channel, each American president also benefits, each year, from a budget of 100,000 dollars (96,000 euros) to cover his travels, and a sum of 19,000 dollars (18,000 euros) to cover events and official receptions.

In addition to this salary, the president has a significant bonus: that of staying at the White House, and therefore using the “furniture and other effects belonging to the United States and kept in” this “residence executive,” reads the United States Code.
The American vice-president will have an annual salary of 289,400 dollars (278,000 euros), as indicated by an executive order available on the human resources website of the federal government, applicable since January 1, 2025.
Since 1958, ex-presidents have also benefited from an annual salary of more than 200,000 dollars (192,000 euros) after leaving the White House, specifies CBS. They must also have their own staff paid by the federal government, as well as “suitably furnished and equipped office space,” according to the law.
