A 43-year-old Moroccan national posed as a rifleman in plain clothes when the police approached him. In an unsuccessful attempt to evade arrest, the resident of Poggiomarino in the municipality of Naples told officers that they could not arrest him because he was one of them.
According to local media, the man in question appears in CCTV footage stealing phones from a shopping center in Poggiomarino. The merchant followed the GPS location of one of the devices, but he was threatened with a knife by the suspect.
Shortly after, the carabinieri arrived. When confronted with the evidence, the man claimed to be an outside collaborator and insisted he was an undercover agent in the “homicide section.” However, the individual was already known to the services.
