The Loiret Assize Court will judge, from this Monday, January 20, two parents for the death of their baby, barely two months old. The facts occurred in October 2022 in Meung-sur-Loire, reports The New Republic .
The little boy’s mother, now 27 years old, alerted Samu when her child was seriously injured. Hospitalized in intensive care, the baby died a few days later. An investigation was then opened, and resulted in a suspicion of shaken baby syndrome, in addition to other violence. The father, a young man of 23, admitted to having assaulted his child.
Unreported violence
He is on trial for “voluntary violence leading to death without intention of causing it”. The mother, for her part, is being prosecuted for not having denounced this violence. The young woman also intends “to become a civil party”his lawyer told our colleagues. The trial verdict will be delivered on Thursday January 23.
