The Atlanta Hawks snatched a victory on the floor of champion Boston, and Stephen Curry won but experienced an ankle scare on Saturday in the NBA.
Big move from the Hawks in Boston
The Atlanta Hawks of Trae Young (28 points, 12 assists), very inspired, pulled off a nice coup by winning against champion Boston (119-115 after overtime).
The two teams offered a suspenseful end to the match, Atlanta first managing to come back and then pass in front of the Celtics, who had the game in hand before a foot in touch from Jrue Holiday then a free throw missed by Jayson Tatum.
Two free throws from Young allowed the Hawks to snatch overtime while Tatum (23 points on 7 of 21 shooting) missed the winning shot at the buzzer.
The two teams exchanged successes from afar at the start of overtime, the end being dominated by the interior Onyeka Okongwu (19 points, 13 rebounds), on the lay-up, on the rebound and on the block against Jaylen Brown (24 points to 9 out of 27).
Boston remains solid second in the East (29-13) but has lost one game in two in the last eight meetings.
Decisive Durant
Star of the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant was decisive in leading his team to victory in Detroit (125-121).
“KD” compiled 36 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and above all made an important shot 1 minute from time which allowed the Suns to pull away for good.
Durant was well helped by Devin Booker (35 points) against the Pistons of Tobias Harris (21 points).
Golden State wins, alert for Curry
-The Golden State Warriors were hanging on but emerged victorious in a duel against the Washington Wizards (122-114).
Andrew Wiggins was the most skillful for the “Dubs” (31 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists), taking over from boss Stephen Curry (26 points at 4 of 14 from afar).
While the victory had just taken shape, Curry had to come out in the final moments, injured in an ankle due to a fall by Jordan Poole following a duel.
Curry was able to get up but limped out, hit in the left ankle, like at the start of the season when he had to miss three games.
Former Warriors Jordan Poole scored 38 points for Washington.
The Knights at a gallop
A sudden acceleration at the end of the 3rd quarter and at the start of the 4th allowed the Cleveland Cavaliers, the best team at the start of the season, to win against the Minnesota Timberwolves (124-117).
Donovan Mitchell was brilliant (36 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists), with Darius Garland (29 points), against Anthony Edwards (28 points) in particular.
Cleveland, leading in the East (35-6), revived after suffering a heavy defeat against West leader Oklahoma City on Thursday.
