“The house fire was violent from the moment the call was made” to the firefighters, Lieutenant-Colonel Gaël Zimmer, of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of Moselle, told AFP, confirming information from France 3.
“There were five occupants inside the home, two adults and three children. Two adults and two children were able to evacuate before emergency services arrived, and one child was missing. He was found deceased.”he added.
At the height of the intervention, around 50 firefighters were mobilized, as well as around twenty vehicles, including three pump machines, an aerial ladder, a medical team and a clearing rescue unit.
-The fire was brought under control in the morning, firefighters treated the residual fires as they cleared the fire.
A judicial investigation was opened to determine the causes of the incident.
