Australian Open: Novak Djokovic eliminates Lehecka in three sets and joins Carlos Alcaraz for a final before the hour in the quarters
In pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title, the 37-year-old Serbian won 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) and 2h39 of play. He will compete for the 15th time the quarter-finals in Australia, a record he shares with the Swiss Roger Federer. Djokovic will meet Alcaraz on Tuesday, who took advantage on Sunday of the abandonment of the Briton Jack Draper (ATP 18), injured in the hip. The Spaniard won the first two sets 7-5, 6-1.
This will be an eighth duel between Djokovic and Alcaraz, the first since the Olympic final in Paris which saw the Serbian’s success on the clay court of Roland-Garros. Until now the two men had only met in the finals (4) or semi-finals (3). Djokovic won 4 of these confrontations
