Julen Lopetegui is currently in active negotiations with the Belgian Union to fill the coaching position following the departure of Domenico Tedesco. The former Spain coach, who has managed prestigious clubs like Real Madrid and Sevilla FC, is emerging as a leading candidate to take the reins of the Red Devils.

After Roberto Martinez’s tenure, another Spanish figure could soon be at the helm of the national team. According to sources, the Belgian federation has started concrete discussions with Lopetegui, who has an impressive career spanning 58 years, punctuated by a successful tenure as Spain’s head coach from 2016 to 2018, during which he recorded 16 wins and 4 draws.

Lopetegui’s extensive CV also includes notable achievements with clubs such as Real Madrid, Sevilla FC and FC Porto, as well as various teams in England. His record includes the Europa League title, won with Sevilla FC in 2020, as well as two European Championships with the Spanish youth teams in 2012 and 2013 with the U19 and U21 selections respectively.
