A serious chairlift accident occurred on Saturday December 18, 2025 in the ski resort of Astún, located in the northeast of Spain, near the French border. Local authorities reported that around 30 people were injured, including several in serious condition.
A technical failure at the origin of the accident
According to Miguel Ángel Clavero, director of emergency services for the Aragon region, where the station is located, the accident was caused by a technical problem. “Obviously, there was a problem with the pulley of one of the chairlifts, which led to a loss of tension in the cable and the fall of some chairlifts,” he explained on Spanish public television. , TVE.

Among the injured, three people are in a particularly worrying condition.
