The second week ofAustralian Open started this Sunday. And it looks exciting. For the start of the round of 16, the four matches in the second part of the table have been placed on the program. Carlos Alcaraz took advantage of the abandonment of Jack Draper and waits in shifts for a certain Novak Djokovic who will face Jiri Lehecka. Alexander Zverev will find the French Ugo Humbert for a remake of the last final at Bercy. Finally, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina“Mr Remontada”, logically exploded at the start of the program against Tommy Paul.

Humbert revenge against Zverev
Ugo Humbert did not keep very good memories of his last meeting with Alexander Zverev. While he had a superb week at Bercythe Lorraine had been torpedoed 6-2, 6-2 in front of his audience by the German for his first Masters 1000 final. The French n°1, who took advantage of the abandonment of his compatriot Arthur Son in the last round, will therefore be keen to take his revenge, even if the challenge is immense. The world No. 2 had a very quiet first week and presents himself as a serious contender for final victory.
The winner will face the American Tommy Paul, who crushed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. The Spaniard, led two sets to nothing by Félix Auger-Aliassime et Jakub Mensikhad no more energy…
Alcaraz takes advantage of Draper’s abandonment and waits for Djokovic
At the time of the draw, everyone had noticed this potential shock in the quarter-finals between Novak Djokovicten-time winner of theAustralian Open and in search of a 25th Major, and Carlos Alcarazwho could become after this fortnight the youngest player in history to win all four Grand Slam titles. Accompanied by Andy Murraythe Serbian sent a strong message in the third round by switching off Tomas Machac in three sets. For his seventeenth round of 16 at Melbournehe will challenge another Czech, Jiri Lehecka. Alone Roger Federer et Hyeon Chung managed to bring down Djoko in eighths.
On the side of Carlos Alcarazce is only the second time in his career that he has made it past the third round in the first Grand Slam of the year. A little less well compared to Nuno Borges Friday, against whom he dropped his first set of the tournament, the Spaniard did not have to force himself against a marathon runner this Sunday: Jack Draper. The British, 18th in the ATP rankings, had won his first three matches in five sets. Too much, too much… Led two sets to nothing, 7-5, 6-1, Draper was forced to throw in the towel. Alcaraz is therefore in the quarterfinals without having exerted his talent. Stopped by Zverev last year at this stage, he will try to do better this year.
