Despite his humor and his eternal smile, Stéphane Bern does not, like all people on this planet, experience only moments of happiness. He gave proof of this this Friday January 17, 2025 in The Secret Box by Faustine Bollaert, broadcast on France 3.
For this new issue, Maxime Chattam’s companion received the former judoka and minister, David Douillet, the ex-candidate of the Star AcademyÉlodie Frégé, and whose presenter History SecretsStéphane Bern.
“I’m not sure I really like surprises, it’s a leap into the unknown”said the latter at the start of the show, as if he already knew what awaited him in this program always filled with emotion. And he wasn’t wrong.
Indeed, Yori Bailleres’ companion found an object very important to him in his box: the Manual of National History of Luxembourg by Arthur Herchen. “It’s one of the books that means the most to me, (…) formerly I could quote entire pages from it”, he confided before the presenter of The Secret Box asks him to listen to a song “very dear to his heart”.
Stéphane Bern was thus able to discover the title Imagineby John Lenon, performed by mezzo-soprano Axelle Saint-Cirel. In tears throughout the song, the presenter of History Secrets indulged in a few confidences to explain his emotion.
“I owe you a confession anyway. There is this song, there is this singer, and you put before my eyes the images of my father who left two years ago, of my brother who left last year…I feel like a bit of a survivor. I admired my brother so much and he gave up on me. It’s the hardest part, sorry sorry”he confided to Faustine Bollaert.

A few moments later, Stéphane Bern agreed to comment on some of the photos broadcast in the background during Axelle Saint-Cirel’s performance: “In this photo he is so handsome“.
“It’s the brown one, because I was the blond one, obviously with the glasses, I looked worse than him. He was kind enough to make me believe that it wasn’t serious, that he left me the light and remained in the shadows”he remembered, always with so much emotion.
Before continuing: “I live with my Pantheon. I live every day with my parents who have left, with my grandparents, my brother. To all those who have left, they are in me”. A moment that moved the main person involved, as well as everyone present on set.
