While everything seemed to be in place for the loan of Randal Kolo Muani, the French international has still not committed to Juventus for the rest of the season. The reason, an imbroglio over the number of players loaned by PSG this season. The Parisian club can still remedy the situation.
Randal Kolo Muani will have to wait before wearing the colors of Juventus. The French striker, who was to be loaned to Piedmont, will have to be patient and wait for PSG to settle their quota of loaned players this season.
For several years, Fifa has been trying to regulate the transfer market and the construction of squads in particular to encourage the emergence of young players. The Kolo Muani affair highlights a point of settlement which had obviously remained relatively unknown.
A decreasing limit each season
Nearly three years ago, Fifa announced its desire to limit temporary transfers with three objectives in particular: developing young people, promoting competitive balance and preventing hoarding. Thus, for the 2022-2023 season, a club could loan a maximum of eight players. A figure which will then become decreasing over the years. Seven, therefore for the following season, and only six, from this 2024-2025 season.
-In this quota, players under the age of 21 and who are also trained at the club are not taken into account. Consequently, at PSG, Ilyes Housni (Le Havre), Lucas Lavallée (Aubagne) and Xavi Simons (Leipzig) are not affected by the limit of six loaned players. The players affected by this point of settlement are Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen), Juan Bernat (Villarreal), Carlos Soler (West Ham), Renato Sanches (Benfica), Cher Ndour (Besiktas) and Gabriel Moscardo (Reims).
In order to remedy the situation and therefore validate the loan of Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus, PSG has two possible options. Either repatriate a player currently on loan or sell a player currently on loan.
