This Friday, January 17, is half-time day of the winter transfer window in the Ligue 1 championship. Started on January 17, it ends on February 3 for French professional clubs. There is still time to strengthen and so far the overwhelming majority of teams are procrastinating. As we write these lines, several operations are underway, notably one which concerns Paris SG and Napoli striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The 23-year-old Georgian striker is potentially the most expensive recruit of the winter in France, his transfer should be around 70 to 80 million euros in compensation. As long as nothing is done, it is Stade Rennais which dominates in its total investment, with the combined arrivals of Seko Fofana in the middle then of goalkeeper Brice Samba, for a total of 34 million euros.
Stade Rennais dominates in terms of expenditure, Reims in terms of the number of reinforcements
In terms of numbers, Stade de Reims already has three reinforcements in its squad. Some other clubs, like Olympique de Marseille with Luiz Felipe, have recruited at a lower cost, a contract-free profile.
In total, the 18 Ligue 1 clubs invested 53.35 million, an average per team close to 3 million euros, but only five clubs have entered into a paying operation.
