Genève-Servette returned to victory after extra time 2-1 on Friday against Ambri-Piotta. Next match Saturday against Fribourg.

After Wednesday’s disappointment against Zug, Genève-Servette has no room for error. Deprived of its top scorer Sakari Manninen (for 5 matches), the Garnet align the newcomer Timashov with Granlund and Hartikainen. In the standings, Ambri and Genève-Servette have the same number of points, the GSHC being in front thanks to its match in less played.

The first third is goalless and far from stratospheric. Nevertheless, Genève-Servette is diligent and, in its goals, Anti Raanta holds the house.

It is in the second third that the Grenat will make the difference, against the run of play. Teemu Hartikainen, whose shot is deflected by a Leventin defender, can give the Genevans a head start without them being the best . Once things turn in this direction, we have to admit that we are not going to complain about it. 1-0 is also the score after 40 minutes of play.

But like in Zug on Wednesday, the Genevans offer too much space in front of their goalkeeper. Twice, a Ticino player found himself alone in front of the Geneva goals and inherited the puck. If Raanta can make the save on the first opportunity, the second leads to the equalizer for the Léventins with a little more than 10 minutes remaining in regulation time. Like the first two confrontations of the season, this one is played in overtime. For the first time this season, it was the away team that managed to win thanks to a goal from Marco Miranda, his first of the season.

The Grenat still have one match before they can breathe a little, it will take place on Saturday at Les Vernets against Fribourg-Gottéron
