The Belgian Football Federation announced on Friday the dismissal of its coach, while the Red Devils are going through a period of deep crisis.
Eliminated by France in the round of 16 of the last Euro, Belgium did not “unfortunately it did not live up to expectations, just like during the following campaign” of League of Nations, commented the Federation, without communicating the name of Tedesco’s successor.
The sports commission of the Belgian Football Union has decided to part ways with Domenico Tedesco. Two years earlier, the Italian-German had marked the start of his journey as national coach with a promising start, but this enthusiasm quickly gave way to criticism.
The 39-year-old man of Italian and German origin was appointed coach in February 2023, however he failed to prevent a crisis at the Red Devils, who experienced a sporting failure and are faced with the departure progressive of the majority of key players of the so-called “golden” generation (third place at the 2018 World Cup).
-On March 20 and 23, under the leadership of a new coach, the Belgians will play two qualifying matches for the Nations League against Ukraine. According to Belgian media, Rudi Garcia and Thierry Henry are cited among the possible candidates to occupy the position of coach.
With Belgium, Domenico Tedesco recorded 12 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats with the Red Devils.
