Tjerk Lammers, the husband of Manuëla Kemp, announced on Friday morning with great sadness that his “Maan” died at the age of 61. He told RTL Boulevard that his “heart is broken”. The presenter was involved in a scooter accident in Portugal on December 7, after which she was left in a coma.

“My sweet, sweet, incredibly talented and beautiful Maan has passed away. She never woke up after her fall on December 7,” Tjerk said in his message. “Last night, at half past two, just four hours after I said goodbye, Maantje fell asleep for good. My heart is broken.
-A week ago, Tjerk shared an intense health update with bad news regarding Manuëla, who had now been hospitalized in Portugal for five weeks. “After the EEG and MRI scans, the damage didn’t really become evident and it’s not easy. The part of the brain that controls vital parts such as the heart and lungs still functions. But the part that makes a person a person, and Maan, therefore Maan, is gone,” Tjerk said. According to Manuëla’s husband, “her fate was now sealed”. “After the blow of the accident and five weeks in intensive care, the damage was so extensive that it was determined we would have to let her go.”
It was then decided that Manuëla would fly to the Netherlands on Monday evening. Tjerk didn’t fly on Manuela’s flight. He took another flight because of a cold. “She is now safe in intensive care and I will see her early Tuesday morning. I couldn’t go with the air ambulance. I have a cold and you don’t want to sit next to vulnerable Maan on such a small jet,” he said at the time.
Manuëla and Tjerk got married in September 2009 on the Greek island of Simi. In 2019, the couple gave an interview Elegancein which Tjerk looks back on his first meeting with Manuëla. “I thought Maan was great. But in reality, I had it in mind long before we worked together on this program. In the early 90s there was a TV show that Own the house and the garden was called. I didn’t have my own house or my own garden, but I watched the program – because I really liked the presenter. And it was Moon. But I actually only met her in person and she seemed very nice too. Later it turned out that she was indeed very kind and exceptionally gentle. Maan is the nicest girl I know.
