Manchester City have officially announced the signing of a new contract with Erling Haaland, who will now stay at the club until the summer of 2034.

Haaland joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund and has already become one of the club’s key players in just two and a half seasons. In his debut season at the Etihad, he helped the team achieve a historic treble – winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

During that season, Haaland scored 52 goals in all competitions, setting a Premier League record with 36 goals in a single season and winning the Golden Boot.

Last season, Haaland again played a crucial role in City’s historic feat, winning a fourth consecutive Premier League title. Despite an injury that kept him out of action for two months, the Norwegian scored 38 goals in 45 appearances, including 27 in the Premier League, winning his second consecutive Golden Boot.

This season, Haaland remains incredibly prolific: he has scored 16 goals in 21 Premier League matches and 21 goals in all competitions in 28 matches. He is already 15th on the list of all-time top scorers for City.

Here are some quotes from Haaland:

“I am very happy to sign a new contract and look forward to the years to come at this wonderful club. Manchester City is a special place with fantastic people and incredible supporters. I am grateful to Pep, the coaching staff, my teammates and everyone at the club for their support. Now I’m part of City forever.”

City sporting director Txiki Begiristain said:

“Erling is one of the best strikers in the world, and we are delighted that he will stay with us for this long. His statistics are impressive, but his humility, his professionalism and his desire to improve are just as important. He has every chance to create an incredible legacy at our club.”
