Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has signed a new exceptionally long contract, until 2034, with Manchester City, the Premier League club announced on Friday.
The 24-year-old star had a contract which expired in 2027. Since his arrival in England in 2022, he has already won the Championship twice and largely contributed to the Champions League-Championship-Cup treble in 2023.
Arriving from Dortmund, where he flourished at the highest level, Haaland has already scored 111 goals in just 125 matches for the Citizens. In his first season, he scored 36 goals in the Premier League, breaking the record for goals in one year in England.
A scoring machine, the 1.95 m giant reveled, in a sarcastic video published on his club’s social networks, about his relationship with the Premier League defenders to announce his extension.
“There have been a lot of rumors lately, and I understand that sometimes you don’t want me around (…) but, sorry, I’m here to stay” for many years, he told the address of the defenders of England.
-Manchester City, however, is in difficulty this season, only in 6th place in the league. Second top scorer behind Mohamed Salah Liverpool), Haaland has scored 16 goals in 21 matches.
In the Champions League too, City is poorly ranked: Pep Guardiola’s team is 22nd before the high-risk trip to Paris against PSG (25th out of 36) next Wednesday.
